Running low on inspiration for your food photos?

When expanding your portfolio of photos by constantly taking pictures everyday, it can become tiring and easy to lose inspiration. However, I have collected my favourite tips on how to gather more inspiration and get out of that creative rut.

Pinterest

The first tip I would say, is if you really have been taking photos every single day, you probably need a break. But if your schedule doesn't allow for that my second suggestion would be to look at Pinterest. Find other photos that have a similar style to yours and figure out what it is that you like about these photos. Do you like that there are multiple plates and bowls, giving it an affect that a group of people are sitting down to eat this food? Try to incorporate that into your photos but be careful that you don't entirely copy the photo!

Get Outside

Sometimes all you need is to clear your head and take a break. But I find that when I go for a walk I usually come up with ideas when I’m not actually trying to. Whether you are going for a walk in a forest or you are walking down a busy city street, there is inspiration and art all around you!

Gather Ideas Before the Shoot

I like to think about what photo I'm going to take days before I've even made the dessert! Every time an idea strikes, I like to draw it out or write it down for later.

Art and Movies

My new discovery has been taking photos inspired by other art that I have seen or movies that have a certain cinematic style that I like it. I think it’s a great way to come up with new ideas!

If you liked these ideas let me know in the comments! Which tip was your favourite?
